Roberto Santiago is a well-known entrepreneur in the state of Paraiba, Brazil. He owns two shopping malls in the city of Joao Pessoa which are Manaira Shopping Mall and Mangeira Shopping Mall. He opened Manaira Shopping Mall in 1989 and Mangeira Shopping Mall in 2015. Prior to this he owned a company which built cardboard display boxes for other businesses. This company was hugely successful and counted among its clients some of the biggest companies in Brazil.
As the chief executive officer of both of his malls, Roberto Santiago guides them through his leadership and strategic vision. He says that if you’re going to run a successful mall you’ve always got to give shoppers a reason to come in. Because of this, his malls have many dining, shopping, entertainment, banking, working out, and educational reasons for people to visit it. The educational part comes into play because Manaira Shopping Mall includes a small college in its premises.
Manaira Shopping mall is a really big mall, the biggest in the state of Paraiba in fact. It contains 280 stores and a huge food court which offers food of all price ranges. Roberto Santiago says that he purposely keeps the mall as versatile as possible so that when new trends appear he can take advantage of them. One hugely popular addition he made was that of Domus Hall. Roberto Santiago said that he wanted to start attracting some of the big musical talents of not just Brazilian musicians but also those on the international stage. To this end, Domus Hall was built on top of Manaira Shopping Mall. It can hold 10,000 people for live concert events. Keeping true to his vision of versatility, it can also be easily modified to hold other types of events like trade shows, business conference, theatrical productions, and art shows. There have also been many graduation ceremonies and weddings plus receptions held in Domus Hall in recent years, he says.
Roberto Santiago wants people of all ages to feel welcome when visiting Maneira Shopping Mall. He attracts younger people with arcades, a bowling alley, concert, movies, and some restaurants specifically catering to children’s tastes. He also attracts older people by offering more nuanced cuisines at this mall, upscale shopping options, and plays and theater in Domus Hall.
Between his two malls in Joao Pessoa, Roberto Santiago, directly and indirectly, has provided employment opportunities to thousands of people in this city. Additionally, the areas around his malls have had an economic revitalization with new housing, retail, and office space being built around them. Even during the recent Brazilian recession his malls continued to grow both physically and when it comes to revenues and profits for both him and the businesses that have decided to open their stores in his malls.
