Julia Jackson: Taking Her Family Business to the Next Level

Julia Jackson is the spokesperson for Jackson Family Wines. She is the youngest daughter of Jess Jackson, founder of Jackson Family Wines. Julia works alongside her mother (Barbara Banke) and her siblings, continuing the tradition of making superb natural wines that her father started in 1982.

 

Education

Julia Jackson earned a B.A. in Studio Art from Scripps College and a Certificate in General Management from the Stanford Summer Institute of General Management.

Charitable Work

In 2014, Julie founded Cambria Seeds of Empowerment, a non-profit aimed at helping the community. Under the program, Julia and her mother donate $100,000 every year to make sure that more women take part in businesses. Family Wines also donates to more than forty nonprofit organizations including United Way, Red Cross and County Justice Center among others.

Jackson Family Wines

Jackson Family Wines was established in 1982 by Jess Jackson and his wife, Barbara Banke. The winemaking company is based in Santa Rosa, California and has more than 30 wineries in North America, Italy, Chile, France and South Africa.

It is one of the largest winemakers in the United States and produces the best-selling chardonnay – Vintner’s Reserve. Another flagship wine from the company is its trophy Grand Reserve label. The winemaker produces dozens of fermented products including Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Merlot and Pinot Noir.

The Jackson Family Wine business is committed to using responsible winegrowing practices in the production of high-quality wines. In 2016, the company received the California Green Medal Leader Award. The accolade is a prestigious honor in the California wine community, awarded for sustainable leadership in balancing environmentally sound practices, economic viability and social equity.
